EXHORTATION TO GODLINESS God desires for every Christian is to be productive and fruitful in their walk with Him. God wants us to grow so that we will be able to live godly life. God is not interested in people who are spiritual barrens or dwarfs, that is, people who are ever learning but never come to maturity or perfection. Anyone who will grow to spiritual maturity and perfection must depend on the Holy Spirit who has imparted God's divine nature into us. For any one to be Fruitful it requires circumcision. Circumcision refers to the removal of the foreskin of a boy or man for religious or medical reasons. There are two kinds of circumcision; physical and spiritual. God said to Abraham, you and your descendants must all agree to circumcise every male among you. From now on you must circumcise every baby boy when he is eight days old, including slaves born in your homes and slaves bought from foreigners. This will show that there is a covenant between you and me (Gen. 17:10-12). This sign of covenant is the physical circumcision. In union with Christ you were circumcised, not with the circumcision that is made by human but Christ, which consists of being freed from the power of this sinful self, (Col. 2:11), this we refers to the spiritual circumcision which is our focus. It is those who have received this true circumcision who will worship God by means of His spirit. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, but glory be to God, by His Grace we are saved through Jesus Christ. Have you been saved? That which is born of the flesh is flesh which has to be removed and replaced with the spirit. Have you heard the gospel and convinced that you are a sinner, but yet not willing to give your life to Christ because of what you stand to gain or lose if you do? “You are the servant and slave to sin”, but remember what the bible says “Verily, verily I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of God. Though, not, too late for you, God is with you now by His grace you will be saved through your faith in him and determination to accept Him as your Lord and Saviour, delay is dangerous, now is the time of God favour, now is the day of salvation, before you have been postponing your salvation, another grate opportunity is here for you to accept it. This is the only way you will not be barren in the things of God and in godly living. For those who have received salvation through Jesus Christ, rejoice and continue to work for the salvation of others. Let us all be the followers of God and walk in love as Christ also hath loved us and has given himself for us. Let not fornication, covetousness, and all uncleaness be mention among the Christians, because no one who is indulging in any of these has any inheritance in the kingdom of God. And for because of these things, the wrath of God shall come upon the children of disobedience, therefore, awake from your sleep, and arise and Jesus Christ shall give you light to walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise and understanding what the will of the Lord is and as well be filled with the holy spirit.

THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

God loves to give, this prompted Him to give his only son to die for the sin of the world. Jesus Christ freely gave His blood that is so precious to reconcile man's to God, gift to the church is given by the Holy Spirit, especially to those who accepted Him in their lives. The gifts of the Holy spirit that is present in the church makes it different and unique from ordinary societal organizations.Having given your life to Jesus, a measure of this holy spirit is in you through His grace.Spiritual gift is a supernatural ability given by Jesus Christ by means of the Holy Spirit to the believer at the moment of his/her salvation. Gift and talents are not the same. Talent is human natural ability deposited in individual at birth. Gift is the out come of talent when inspired by the Holy Spirit to do things that glorify God.These gifts as recorded in I Cor. 12:4-7 are; Prophecy, Discerning of Spirit, Healing, Knowledge, Faith, Wisdom, Working of Miracle Tongues and Interpretation of Tongues. Some of these gifts are also recorded in Ephesians 4:11 which includes, Apostleship, Evangelism, Pastoring and Teaching. Other gifts are ministering, Exhortation, showing of mercy and administration or Ruling (Romans 12:6-8).All these are for the perfecting of the saints, profitable for the work of the ministry, and for the edifying of the body of Christ.Every believer is expected to have any of the Spiritual gift mention above at least one.Which of the above is yours? Holy spirit has not given these gifts to believers to become proud or show off, it is not given to bring division unto the body of Christ, for all these gifts are one because the Holy Spirit is one. for by one spirit are we all baptized into one body (I Cor.12:13). Holy Spirit has given the believers the gifts to glorify God and to edify the church of God.As you are reading this special edition of the word of life, discover your own spiritual gifts and explore it maximally to the glory of God.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

It is imperative to know that the operation and the use of the gifts of Holy Spirit can not be effective in the absent of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, therefore every believer is expected to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Christian who is a candidate of heaven must possess “All” these fruits of the spirit, believers having some of it is not enough but all. These fruit of the spirit as recorded in Gal. 5:22-23 are elucidated below.►LOVE:- Christians came to the light from darkness through the love demonstrated toward them by Jesus. This is a divine Love. Do you love God and the brethren?He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (John 4:8). Love requires keeping God's commandment, if you love me keep my commandments (John 14:15). There are some people claiming they love God, these people love only in words, their actions betray their profession. They profess to love God but they hate their brethren. One who abides in the light of love does so through conduct – demonstration of love for others. Love your neighour and your enemies. It is understandable that we have some people that are evil neighbour. Those who are envious of other's progress looking for a way to harm them, Yet God want us to show them love, for He will deal with them in His own way and you will be marvel if God sees that they are going beyond their boundaries.►JOY:- This refers to deeper gladness, it goes beyond the so-called happiness of the world resulting from things happening around us. Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice (Phil. 4:4). This joy spring up from the well of salvation in the life of a believer, that is why despite all the riches and wealth of some people without salvation their lives is filled with sorrows, sadness and bitterness no element of joy in their life. But a common man with nothing but salvation is filled with Joy of God always. Christians should always rejoice for who He is and for what God has done in their life.►PEACE:- Let the peace of God rule in your heart (Colossian 3:15). It's a pity we are living in the world where there is no peace, violence here and there neighours can not leave peacefully with one another even brothers and sisters in the family threatning one another, in contrary to what God commanded us to do. Love and Peace are inseparable. If there is love there will be peace. Brethren let brotherly love continue for peace to reign among our selves and our society. There should be absence of fear, having the totality of God. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you …….Let not your heart be troubled,neither let it be afraid. (John 14:24)►PATIENCE:- This ability to endure allows godliness to flourish. Christians are less likely to be discouraged and succumb to temptation and more likely to persevere in doing what is right. Naturally man is impatient, but believers are to be patient. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness, but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that all should come to repentance (II Peter 3:9).►GENTLENESS:- Beloved, put on tender; mercies, kindness, Bearing with one another; some so call Christians are arrogant, difficult to approach and proud because of Wealth, Position Educational achievement, hell is their portion if they failed to produce this fruit. Believers are to be an easy going people and not arrogant. (Colo. 3:12-13). ►GOODNESS:- What are the good works you are known for? Believers works both feasible and invisible works (work done in the heart) must be good as Jesus Christ is full of goodness. This is the fruit that make all the Christians to be full of good work because, a good man out of the good treasure of the hearth bringeth forth good thing (Matthew 12:35), therefore make your tree (heat) good and his fruit (work) good. ►TEMPERANCE:- This fruit create in believers moderate in all things. It is the ability to control oneself. It is disheartening that we are living in the generation where moderate is ommitted or ignored in people daily life style dictionary, people like to explore every opportunity that come their ways, and God on his thrown, is bitter concerning their life for their mode of dressing, appetite and habit has no moderation.►FAITHFULNESS:- Believers must press on in a disciplined way to cultivate integrity. And godliness in their lives. Many are called by the name Christian, yet they are dubious, and unreliable. At all time, Christians must be dependable and should be people that should be relied upon.►MEEKNESS:- This refers to mastering of one's carnal desires. Hot temper they must not have a place in the life of a believer and must humble them self. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. (Phil. 2:3). Christian must be able to control their fleshly passions. Having digest the above fruits of the Holy Spirit the question remains “Which of these Fruit is missing in your life”, don't forget, you must produce “All”. God has deposited some Spiritual gift in our life through the Holy Spirit to be used for the edifying of the body of Christ, if you have not discovered your gift, do that now. For those who have discovered theirs what fruit are you producing through such gifts? Jesus himself said that any one that does not bear Fruit shall be cut off from Him (John 15:2, 16; Matt. 3:8-10). For if these things be in you, and abound they make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Jesus Christ. (II peter 1:8).Hence, allow the Holy Spirit to have you in fullness and let the fruit of the Holy Spirit be fully seen in you. ..........
